An exclusive for Circolo illy members:
In 2002, illy chose the narrative power of photography to bring attention to the coffee growers' life and work, and the beauty of the countries where it purchases its coffee, with documentary images by Sebastião Salgado.
During these years the renowned photographer has visited Brazil, India, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Colombia and, in this last leg, China. Here, in 2012, he focused his lens on the Yunnan province, situated in the southwestern side of the country, particularly in the Baoshan and Simao regions, the latter well known for Pu'er tea production.
The coffee coming from these areas can be described as a medium-strong bodied coffee with intense notes of chocolate and caramel accented with fruity top-notes. Salgado's work reveals a beautiful and rural landscape, in which the presence of human beings is respectful and discrete.
China's images will be displayed for the first time during Galleria illy in Beijing, from the 27th of October until the 2nd of December. The images are an exclusive only for Circolo illy members.
